Our awesome meeting room
Since we wanted to share the final result of the mural painting in our new meeting room with the rest of the world, I decided to write a post in English. So what’s the story here? A couple of months ago we moved to a much bigger studio. We specialize in building interactive websites and online (flash) games and are currently working on our own casual MMO for children called ‘Dreambear’ (but that’s a whole other story
). So we wanted to make our new office a place where we would feel right at home. I asked our lead artist Tom Jilesen and his buddy Fabian Schlaga to create a mural for our meeting room. Handed them a list of my favorite game and anime characters (can you spot all 17 of ‘em?) and the instructions that the mural needed to ‘rock’.
Here’s a picture of Tom with the empty wall (Tom is about 6.5 feet).

The original artwork (click here for a much larger version)
Day 1:
Since the wall was so big we had to cut up the original image in 12 pieces so we could beam it onto the wall. Don’t know if that was the ‘right’ way to do it but it worked for us.

Day 2:
Everybody was still hungover from Tom’s birthday party, so progress was minimal

Day 3:
This was the last day the gentlemen could work on the mural before leaving to the States to visit the SDCC. Luckily for me they managed to finish 50% of the image.

Day 4:
One month later, time to finish the piece!

Day 5:
Getting closer

Day 6:
It’s done!

Upholding WeberSG tradition, getting their picture taken with fake moustaches (they kinda look like Mario & Luigi now).

The final result:
We’re very happy, Fabian and Tom did a great job!

Wow, heel erg gaaf! En extra bonuspunten omdat Al Elric erbij zit!
Impressive and inspiring – I obviously need to read more manga/watch more anime.

That makes me tear up it’s so awesome. You guys there are carrying on the dream. My infinite respect and admiration; absolutely awesome.
The mural does, indeed, rock.
The cinder block to the right should have spill-over characters/actions.
Now tell us more about Dreambear.

love it! i think we’ll give that a try too!
Sweet! Who is the little guy that is being held by Mr Bison?
Thanks everybody for the kind words and mail we got regarding our meetingroom mural, we really appreciate it! There are three characters on the wall people might not recognize: Bombface (bottomleft) and Funkylovebot (holding Totoro’s hand) are creations of Fabian Schlaga. The guy that M.Bison is crushing is called ‘Captain August’ and is the brainchild of Roderick Leermakers (another guy at our office).
But that’s wonderful!!
Hi Ron,
Ik was al benieuwd hoe die zou gaan worden. Ik was bij jou op bezoek toen ze net begonnen waren. Goed gelukt!
